Personal Values
Persistence
Grant’s persistence shows through sustained commitment across multiple fronts. He earned Dean’s List recognition four semesters in a row while balancing a demanding double major. As cofounder of YouthTank Detroit, he spent two years building the organization and raising over $35,000 through persistent outreach. His six-month role on the John James campaign required sustaining voter engagement efforts through a long election cycle. And his progression through three professional internships reflects a deliberate, steady path toward a legal career.
Meticulousness
Grant’s meticulousness shows in work that demands precision and attention to detail. As a legal clerk at McDonald Baas & Livingston, he drafted discovery requests, motions, and briefs while carefully redacting sensitive information to maintain attorney-client privilege—tasks with no room for error. At Morgan Stanley, he maintained detailed client profiles for advisors managing over $750 million in assets, where accurate record-keeping directly impacts client trust. On the John James campaign, his polling data analysis required careful handling and attention to nuance to inform campaign strategy effectively.
Compassionate
Grant’s compassion is most evident in his commitment to service and mentorship. As cofounder of YouthTank Detroit, he designed and led programs introducing high school students to careers in finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship—investing his time in opening doors for the next generation. Within Kappa Sigma, his leadership roles centered on building community, from welcoming new members to serving on the Judicial Board where decisions required balancing accountability with fairness. His interest in international law and global security also reflects a concern for issues that affect people beyond his immediate community, pointing toward a career focused on broader impact.
